Princeton Progressives welcomes the increasing diversity within the Princeton University community. With that commitment comes a responsibility that the University review its own history to insure that all forms of racism and bigotry are not tolerated on its grounds. Accordingly, PPro supports a comprehensive reassessment of Woodrow Wilson’s legacy and how it should be recognized on campus. More specifically, we believe that Princetonians must be made to understand and take into account that some of Woodrow Wilson’s widely-implemented policies were overtly racist in ways that transcend an oft-stated, but erroneous, contention that his views were simply typical of a person of his Southern background from his era.
